How is Your Relationship With Money?

It was floored today during a group exercise with my mastermind group. The leader said that he would state a word and we were to write the first 3 things that came to mind when he stated that word. His first word was “money.” And immediately several positive statements/words came to my mind. It was just a year and a half ago at a conference I was asked to give money a persona. My persona of money was something to rival the Dark One from "Once Upon A Time," black and dripping black ooze from its body. Anything but pleasant.

What a difference in my relationship with money today! It was not like a light switch and one day I went from thinking of money as The Dark One to now enjoying talking about money, welcoming money. It was a lot of conscious work of looking into why I had a poor relationship with money, intentionally reframing my relationship with money, giving more money away than felt comfortable initially. Then I also worked on my unconscious relationship with money. I would visualize having a better relationship with money, I worked with a Body Code practitioner on releasing any mental blocks related to money. The results today were somewhat expected but also surprised me – why? Because I hadn’t thought about my relationship with money in quite sometime and I think that also speaks volumes. In the past I would obsess about money – the supposed lack or not enough in my life. It was a refreshing moment to be sure.

If you are someone who struggles with money – there is never enough (even when there really is), you hit a certain income level and always come back down even though your desire is to make more, you stress over even the smallest bills when they come in the mail then these tips may be just what you need to break free:

1. Start giving – use any excuse to give away money. Not to the point that you cannot feed your family but give an extra 10% tip or even 20%, pay for the car behind you at the drive thru little random acts of kindness open your mind to allowing money to flow in and out of your life. Remember what you put out does come back. Maybe not right away but trust me.

2. Have a money mantra that you can use to retrain your brain when that chatter starts. You know the kind I’m talking about. The voice that tells you there is never going to be enough, you can not retain that many clients, you can’t made X….the list goes on. One that I hung on for a long time I learned from a coach Natasha Hazelett “Money comes to me all the time from sources known and unknown, expected and unexpected.” That was literally the way my 2020 played out – many blessings.

3. Work with someone to remove your unconscious blocks around money. They are definitely present even though you can’t physically see them. This could be an NLP practitioner, a hypnotist and not the kind that makes you quack like a chicken but one that can write a script that literally retrains the pathways in your brain, or an energy healer such as myself.
