Lessons from the Great Joe DiMaggio

Joe DiMaggio had a 13-year carrier as a New York Yankee one of the most coveted baseball gigs in all of baseball. He is best known for his 56-game hitting streak. He was a three-time MVP and an All-Star all of his 13 seasons. Late in his career, after all of those accolades someone asked him why he kept going working so hard even though he had already “made it.”

He answered that he continued to work hard ‘til the end of his career because he knew there was always someone in the stands, a young boy that had never seen him play before, watching him for the first time and that boy deserved to see DiMaggio at his very best.

We as individuals may not have a platform like a Joe DiMaggio but our family, our clients, etc. all deserve our best until we don’t have anything to give anymore. What might that look like?

For our family it may mean encouraging those we love to go for their own dreams, to empower them with our advice or resources, telling them that we love them, being there when they need us, being present when we are with them.

For our work it means showing up, providing value even when we don’t “feel” like it. I work with a coach that has provided some piece of value toward his market every single day for the past 5 years. He started with less than nothing because he was seriously broke, to where collectors from everywhere were paying him visits and calling him non-stop. Today he is a multimillionaire. Not because it was handed to him, not because he wished for it but because he saw a need, he identified a market and he provided value every single day whether he felt like it or not because people were counting on him.

Emotion Code, Emotional Release and Business Coaching
Blog Post "Lessons from Joe DiMaggio" Julie Drake Emotion Code, Emotional Release and Business Coaching

We are all here for a purpose. And that purpose may not be to build an empire that influences hundreds of thousands or millions of people. That purpose may be to be the best wife and mother in our own families to raise the next who knows – president, doctor, nurse, teacher, trainer. But whatever the purpose I believe we are called to S.H.I.N.E. To succeed on your own terms, to honor your gift, imagine limitless living, nourish your passions and elevate your potential. It takes work granted and we are called to do it until and do it anyway.

Do you let your emotions get the best of you? Do you feel stuck? Or maybe you just feel like you have something nudging, that small voice telling you to go for something and you are either afraid to answer the call or you find yourself starting and stopping (self-sabotage) message me and let’s talk about how I can help you S.H.I.N.E.
