Word for the Year

When I first did a word of the year way back 5 years ago I really did it because someone suggested it and it sounded good. However, somewhere along the way it became an intention a compass leading word of the year.
One year my word was Trust and believe me there was a reason that had to be my word that year. There were constantly situations coming up that required me to Trust. But then again it was a guide through each interesting moment that I was to Trust. God asked me to Trust and the more I did the easier it became.
Then one year my word was Shine. I don’t think I quite lived up to that word that year but it was a reminder of how much I was covering myself with a lamp shade, not shining, but hiding. That led me to take a deep dive into who I was, who I wanted to be and what I wanted to bring to others in the world. It was a perfect word for the year.
In 2020 the word placed on my heart in January was Overflow. By April 2020 I was really wondering how that word was going to play out with all of the uncertainty of the shut downs and changes in our world/country. But by December 31st I knew that there was a reason that was my word of the year. Both professionally and personally that word was my reality.
And that leads me to my word of 2021. It took me awhile. I kept sensing that I was like a butterfly changing from that caterpillar in the cocoon and busting out. I rolled around words like Freedom, Release, Transformed and then today it hit me – it was Limitless. No boundaries going wherever God/Life takes me.
So I encourage you don’t just pick a word to follow the crowd. Pick a word that resonates with you. Take time, write several out pray about it. Let it roll off your tongue and listen to the leap in your spirit that says “Yes!” that’s when you know you have the right word. Then hold on and see how that will play out.
Now this doesn’t mean that you pick a word, sit down and let the rest happen. Go for it make it happen work toward that word and what you want it to represent by the end of the year. Set your goals and intentions around that word – That is when wishing becomes reality.
If you find that you have great intentions, you know where you want to go but you find yourself in self-sabotage or inaction even though you desire to go message me @ julie@jewelteam.com or https://www.facebook.com/juliedrake70 and let’s work together to release those blocks that are preventing you from moving forward!
